Cali Kid Corals

Fish Quarantine/Treatment

Hi Bar,

I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has any experience with de-worming fish with medications such as Piperazine or others on the market (would love to hear what you used and how and for how long). I believe that this medication is not coral/invert safe but id love a confirmation to see if i have to have the fish in a fish-only quarantine or if i can treat in general quarantine tank.

There are also treatments such as API general Cure or Seachem MetroPlex. Do these need to be used in fish-only systems or are they reef safe?

+1 on Prazipro.
Amazon, LFS should have it.
It is pretty coral safe.
But "reef safe" can mean a lot more.
For example, it will likely kill all the worms in your sand bed, which can cause problems.
It can also kill feather dusters, and might hurt certain mushrooms.

I would really suggest treating the fish in a separate tank.

FYI:
I like this in combination with doing the bucket-tank-transfer-method of quarantine.
On bucket 2 or 3, you treat, with a fairly high dosage.
