CAD Lights 46G

It's interesting how things has changed from the years of everyone trying to achieve 0 ppm of nitrates and phosphates to the convention that you want some of both in the tank nowadays. As for aminos, there's actually quite a number of successful sps dominated tanks that run them, even when their target nitrates are hitting 2.5-5 ppm nitrates, which I wouldn't call ULNS by today's standards. However, in those tanks, I'm pretty sure that amino has less effects than in ULNS systems.

With 9 fish in the tank, and a couple of them being anthias, food is always in abundance. I'm actually interested in trying out a non-photosynthetic gorgonian (not a blueberry) or another softie in the tank to see how it would do.

That would be cool! I am always tempted when I see the red finger gorgonians that neptune gets. Just love the contrast they have!

Nitrate test confirms the same as yesterday. Looks like I'll be dosing 1/2 tsp going forward on the weekdays when I'm in the office.

Also measured the big 3 and came up with:

Alk: 9.12
Ca: 445
Mg: 1455

Parameters are pretty much spot on of what I'm shooting for. Looked at the numbers from last month and tweaked the dosing slightly, but not a huge difference with Alk at 30 mL/day, Ca at 20 mL/day and Mg at 9 mL/day.

My pH has been low due to the Prazi Pro in the system and the skimmer being offline. Apex Heartbeat has sent notifications due to the pH outside of my set parameters (7.7). Last day for the treatment is tomorrow and then I'll do the water change and get the skimmer back online. That'll help with the pH.

Running out of space to mount some SPS, so I'll be redoing the scape. To start, I'll work on half of the tank scape, starting on the right side. I want to build it up a bit higher than what it's currently at and have more mounting points. I've been checking out some of the SPS tanks and really like the look and application of Tonga branches. Ordered 35 lbs. of BRS simple Tonga branches, which gets here on Thursday (most likely delivered on Friday). I'll piece them together with some emarco or nyos once I see what I'm working with.

Buddy and his wife stopped by this weekend to check out the tank and we're doing a 6 month grow out competition with an Aussie yellow acro from CRC.

Winner will be decided on growth versus color. His piece is 3 separate branches that took a big hit with the drive back down to SoCal after having spent the previous day in a bag. There's still tissue on his piece but a decent setback on his part.

Colors are getting darker than I'd prefer in the tank. I've stopped dosing Biggle's juice in the meantime and cutting back on nitrate dosing to every other day instead of every day. Chaeto reactor seems to be working so far running it on reverse cycle.

AI Vega. I'm upping lighting again a couple of points in the CW and the 3 channels of blues (currently at: CW: 72, DR: 50, G: 50, B: 82, DB: 82, RY: 82). However, I might have to replace the fan on the right unit since it's shutting down 1-2 pucks at a time to prevent overheating (safety feature).

I'm also clearing the sandbed so I'll be starting DBTC for a number of the zoas and palys as soon as I can get the scalpels out for some fragging.

Conglomerate for tracking the various DBTCs once I get around to fragging. Each individual zoa/paly will get their own thread once I am able to frag them and this post is for tracking.

Standard rules apply - if I was to lose these zoas, I'd be bumped up to the top of the chain. These are meant to be backups so I'm limiting availability to a certain number with 1 polyp each and once the numbers are filled, I will not be fragging them again. The redistribution should come from the receivers of these chains. Also, please refrain from signing up for multiple frags. Supporting members only.

If you've ever been to Neptune, you've seen these before, which are still being sold for a premium. These are kind of muted at the moment since I'm running an inbalance.

Fruit Loops. Lineage - ReefRaft. These zoas are on the smaller side and it's gonna be a pain to frag these and the frags will most likely be more than 1 polyp each.

Red hornets. Lineage - Endeturtle. Similar to the mandarin oranges, this is a bit less than half of my original colony. The larger half of the colony was fragged and given to Boun awhile back.

No idea what these are. They were picked up from CRC before the move. Rather pinkish under my mostly white lights and they should show decently under most people's lights. Oh, they're also the largest out of all my palys with the larger of the two polyps being larger than dime size.

You don't want to do seperate DTBC chain? I would like to try a banana boat or fruit loops, they sound delicious.

Oh nice you have that magnifying glass thing. I need that for zoa work.

Yep, I use them for fragging, inspecting new/old frags/corals, or just for anything that I need to see in details. Even got an LED attachment for it to provide more light as needed.

Guess people can't read in the DBTC threads. I've got multiple people signing up for more than one frag. I'm not putting their names on the list until they actually nail down one frag, instead of multiples.

Sorry :(. I don't know how it missed it. I deleted some of my sign up and decided on Neptune zoa.
