got ethical husbandry?

I have TONS of questions. Erin is tired of me pelting him with questions and has pawned me off on you fine folks. :) Totally kidding. Thanks for all of your help, Erin. My tank isn't as pissed off at me now.
 
Ok Tiffany, I'll start. It kinda depends on what sort of parameters you want to keep with your tank, as all salt mixes can be different in this regard.

I tried a bunch of different salt when I first started not long ago, I started with instant ocean reef crystals, then tried Fritz RPM, then tropic marine pro, then reefers best salt for a while. Now I'm going back to fritz.

Instant ocean is very commonly used and seems like a cheapest price point. But there was a thread earlier on this forum about Fritz, and it seems to be a favorite amongst many reefers here.

Salt for starting out: Instant Ocean. It is cheap, decent quality, available everywhere, and works fine.

Once you get advanced enough to care about subtle differences between higher end salt brands,
then you can switch to one that has the parameters you care about.
