Our mission

No heater, no worries

Been fighting a small amount of hair algae in my 40 breeder so I cleaned all equipment, did a nice water change, turned off lights and covered the tank with a blanket. Did 3 days lights out which are 2x150 halides. I go to turn on the lights end of day 4 and realize heater is unplugged and panic for a second before seeing that everything is fine. Temp is 75, normally 77 but all stonies and softies are doing great. It gets cold in my house too but the heat retention of the tank sure surprised me.

Good to know in case of a power loss during the winter.

@Parker...you are going to need one "Big" blanket for that beast you are going to build. ;)

I had turned the return pump off on my tank doing maintenance and forgot to turn it back on. Two days later when I noticed something didn't seem right (fish sense) I checked everything, and turned it back on. Everything was good. No blanket and my lights are LED, so no heat coming from them. I have a MP40 in there and that was the only thing working.
