Our mission

First Tank!

Watch out for dinoflagellates when nitrates bottom out. I'm battling a ton right now because I had 0 PO4 and 0 NO3 for awhile.

Update!

Bruce is going to think I'm crazy. But I decided to cut the Colorado sunburst in half.

This is the night of the cut

They seem to be healing. Only time will tell!

Some don't split unless over fed or conditions change. At least that's what I've read. It's either if the anemone feels like it will die so it splits to multiply. Or if it is over fed and splits.

Either way I want to have a few so I could share with other people.

Quite the risk taker. Cutting your nem doesn’t guarantee 2 nems. You could end up with 2 dead halves of a nem. Yours looks good though and I’m sure someone would be more than happy to buy one from you when they’re all healed up.

yeah i was worryed all day at work on how they would do.

Also, always use a new blade. I cut a mushroom in half with a razor blade that had a speck of rust and both sides melted. I've had 100% success the couple other times I have tried with fresh blades

BTAs are pretty tough IME, I cut some of an anemones foot off of one when I needed to remove it, and it regenerated into a nickel sized bta

slowly but surely they are looking better!

One half is much larger which I don't understand since I split it in half. But I'll consider that half the mother.

The smaller one looks like spider-man. Hanging upside down.

Hi guys!

So yesterday I went to the CFM. First event I have gone to and man it was busy! I did not expect to see that many vendors or that many reefers scurrying around. I got meet some BAR members in person, which was amazing. And a run down on camera lenses from flagg37. And learned I really know nothing and should take a photography 101 class. Haha. Also got to talk to JVU for a bit. And it's nice that somebody lives so close to me. Now I know who to ask for help when something goes wrong.

I probably walked around all the venders once or twice just looking at the coral. Trying to decide which ones I was interested in and picture in my head where I would place them.
This morning when the lights came on I managed to get some pictures of the goodies I got, my favorite is probably the free TDO food I got from the BAR raffle. Was exciting to win something!

Nice haul! I’m jealous of your flower nem, did it just attach to that rock with no problem?

i turned off the pumps for about 15 minutes and placed him on there. i noticed part of his foot attached and i was leaving the house again so turned all the pumps back on. by the time i got home he was fully attached and looking happy. hopefully he doesnt eat my little goby.

Got a cool picture of cane (cleaner shrimp) inspecting the new zoa. He's such a cool guy and likes to clean the dirty out from under my finger nails. Haha
