Toadstool not extending polyps

I've heard that toadstools don't always extend their polyps, but I just got this from Neptune today.

It was open for a bit in my tank but has since been like this for a few hours. Despite the polyps not extending, is the toadstool healthy?

Also, what's the brown thing in the middle of it?

A Kenya tree is also in the tank so not sure if that's affecting it

Give it some time to acclimate to the new surroundings, light flow.
Don’t think the KT has anything to do with the issue.

I’ve had them do all sorts of interesting things:
- Shedding. The top surface develops a shiny, waxy coating, which sloughs off, revealing new polyps underneath. Toxins are released during this process, so it’s best to let this happen in a spare tank. If that’s not possible, skim heavily and run carbon to deal with the toxins.
- Self fragging. The mantle separates from the stalk, either in pieces or all at once. The pieces form another coral. If you rubber band them to rubble, they will attach pretty quickly.
