Chalice dead?

Space invader chalice grew too big for my small tank so I put it on the back corner of the sandbed while waiting for the coral bandsaw. As I take it out to frag, I noticed some of the eyes have blackened. Pretty sure this means it’s dead right? Luckily I managed to salvage a few pieces. Just wanted to confirm if those brown eyed pieces are dead (second pic is the salvaged piece). Thanks.

Looks like there still is a bit of flesh but is is hurting real bad, if that happened quickly it most likely is a chemical problem with rhe water, would put it back on the old tank and dont blast it with light

There's less than 1% chance of survival. I think it's a gonner.
But I never throw frags out unless they're 101% dead. So keep it for a while.
Try moving it to a different spot.

Thanks guys. I have 3 salvaged frags from it. Hopefully they thrive. I’m still unsure as to why the chalice was dying, but it could be insufficient light (it was in the back corner of the sandbed). Also since it was on the sandbed, it constantly had sand and poop on it, not sure if that was a factor.
