Laguna Skimmer Pump

Well I have a Laguna Pump Pump lying around and decided to make a skimmer pump out of it. I'll keep you informed as it comes along.

I know others have done this so I want to know what you think. Diameter of the intake/output, diameter and width of the volute, etc.

This guy did alot of the legwork for you if you want to check out this thread. He is trying to copy a Red Dragon pump from his Laguna/Hagen pump.

I was reading that monster, but I got bored after 2 transfers. That thing is way big.

I want to follow the same path but I think I will make a couple volutes to try out the different styles. And the volutes will be clear so I can see the impellers, haha cool.

Hey, he has lots of great ideas - well okay nice knock-off ideas. Actually it is good discussion on how to reverse engineer out these pumps, and if at all makes me value the real thing all that more :D

Okay guys, I need some help. I don't have any impeller shaft. I am planning to buy some Ceramic rod but what MATERIAL?
I'm thinking Alumina- 99.0% or 99.6% solid rod or single bore (maybe).

But what is the diameter I need?
