    Dosing pump ideas?

I have been using a litermeter3 for the last 6 years 24/7. Three pumps dosing Alk, Ca, and fresh water top off thru a deltec kalk stirrer. i leave on one and two week vacations and always come home to a tank with spot on parameters. Never had a pump fail either...

    Sump Upgrade

Yes. I would certainly get gunk build up but I keep a powerhead in the sump (maxijet1200 i think) to keep a good current in there. My sklmmer then picks all that crap up.

Dirty socks ... how do you do your laundry?

just say NO to filter socks. naturally you'll find more detritus in the sump area that accepts water from your tank, so keep a powerhead in there to keep it in suspension so your skimmer can pick it up. try it. your tank will be much healthier. not changing a sock for weeks at a time...

    Sump Upgrade

Those aren't heater holders...that is where the water enters the sump, it fills that section up then it overflows to the socks. Don't run socks. they are a pain to clean everyday and are not needed.

How fast is a pH change detectable?

a doser and an acjr will work wonders for you guys. a litermeter3 is an amazing piece of reefing equipment. that and a controller. the lm3 will dose 150 times over a 24 hour period. i used to dose kalk from a geo reactor with the lm3, but then my demands grew, so i bought a second pump...

notice a lot of tunze and seio for sales lately

i use a neptune controller to cycle them. the tunze guys at RC said 15 minutes max. my understanding is that the new 6055 with controller will do pulse, wave back and forth, etc with no delay...i like the sound of two streams pulsing back and forth, with a soft startup that builds in intensity...

    Magnesium test kits?

i am using both an elos and a salifert kit right now. the elos is quicker, fewer steps. the salifert more precise, more steps. i.e. with the elos its either 1100, 1200, 1300,1400 ppm...with the salifert the increments are smaller, 1130, 1160, 1190, 1220, 1250 ppm etc...
