    Ricordea's

I always remove my rics by using a pair of bone shears on the rock underneath the foot. That way, I can superglue the thin layer of rock to another. If you are splitting for propagation, going through the mouth with a razor blade is preferred. But, I've seen them be ok after taking off 1/4 or...

    Skimmer-less

I run a 7gal without a skimmer. My nutrient export consists of a 1gal water change every 4 days and a small clump of chaeto in an HOB on the back. I use the HOB as a tiny fuge and a place to put a bag of carbon. If it wasn't for the lighting fan, my tank would be almost silent. -Russell

    Strombus snails

Can I queue up for a couple? I don't need any more than that since I've only got a 6gal tank. -Russell

    Best Way to Remove Mushrooms?

To nuke the mushrooms which used to live in my tank, I used boiling RO water with a saturated level of kalk. I dosed it on top of the mushroom using airline tubing connected to a 20ml syringe. It's not as messy as kalk paste and hopefully less likely to hose the stuff next to it. No need to...

Link, I have a backup bulb (15k Ushio) with 8mos of use. You are welcome to use it. A black spot in the plasma envelope usually means the bulb filament is fried. How old is the bulb? -Russell

    Pistol Shrimp?

That's fairly common behavior for pistol shrimp. I lost quite a few nassarius before I realized what was happening. Between that and the OCD digging, both the shrimp and goby had to go.
