Help interpret my Water Chemistry ...pre-dosing

So the warehouse was out of Fritz salt when I ordered. The box should arrive on Tuesday, just in time for Water Change Wednesdays. Since it was delayed, I had to perform a WC yesterday because 2 weeks without maintenance is just unacceptable. ALK has been stable at 9.1dKh for a couple of...

yay!! can't wait for the box of salt to arrive! ... so excited to receive granules of salt on the other hand, I have been looking for mixing instructions... for instance, for the RSCP 5.1oz will make 1.025 in a gallon of RODI. does anyone know how much (in weight, grams or ounces) Fritz per...

Finally bought the FRITZ RPM Salt. I skipped last weeks Water Change, and decided to keep dosing 8ml=0.1dKh of ALK every day. Water Change is in 3 days, that would be two skipped water changes. These are the results taken at roughly the same time of the day. Around 8pm. Light dims off a little...

Right on fellas! Seems like we have started narrow down this reef tank's ALK requirements. Although still boggled by the test results. Yesterday was WC, same as every Wednesday. Today ALK is 8.8dKh. (or 0.63ml of the Red Sea ALK syringe used). I thought it was going to be at 9.7dKh. Seems like...

Yeah dude! The water change raises the ALK by 1.0dKh ... BUT ... the ENORMOUS B U T ... The tank consumes 0.1dKh a day apparently. Which basically brings me back to the beginning of this situation: ALK INSTABILITY. So I found this forum...

So I know the new water is around 12.6dKh, the tank is now at 8.4 dosing 8ml of ALK a day. What do you mean by anticipate and adjusting according to the changes? .... On another note. Adding Water that is 12.6dKh... doesn't that mean that I am inevitably raising the ALK to the levels of the...

AHHHH!! I see the problem madams & sirs, in the drop down menu of the reef calculator, I was selecting the incorrect option. I was selecting "ESV B-Ionic Original Ca Buff pt1" as opposed to "ESV B-Ionic Bicarbonate Syst pt1". The correct number is indeed 27.7ml thanks to our friend Vhuang168 ...

Help interpret my Water Chemistry ...pre-dosing

I say that based on the last 4 weeks of everyday testing, my tank consumes roughly 0.1dKh a day. In the beginning, I didn't test for the longest time, assuming that constant water changes of the same amount of water and salinity every week, the rest of the chemistry would take care of itself...

awesome! thanks. I will figure out how much to dose so I can dose the CA tomorrow during the day. I tested the water before the WC. ALK 6.7 CA 450 MG 1600 tested ALK of the WC 12.6dkH. tested ALK in tank an hour after WC 7.7dkH According to the calculator: To increase Alkalinity by: 0.3...

Weird eh? Hippo Tang is a baby, dude... slightly bigger than the clownfish. The GSP seems to be growing nicely, but that has always been the case. I have noticed that the corals seem happier since NOPOX was introduced, obviously NA reaching 0ppm (tomorrow Friday the Po4 checker arrives!). Yeah...

There was coralline algae at one point about a year ago. But for some mysterious reason there was a bacterial bloom/algae problem and caused all this algae/gunk to grow for a long while.. Also had a couple of SPS that started to thrive, but as they all slowly died I started dosing Dr. Tim's...

Tank has been up since late 2015. Testing like this just started in February 2017, so I don't know how long it has been at current levels, before I tested randomly and didn't really know what I was doing. Why is MAG going up? Why is CAL not being consumed? I really want to understand what is...

Hey everyone, I have been testing everyday for nearly 5 weeks now using the Red Sea Foundation Kit. I started dosing NOPOX two weeks ago, which is what drove me to test for everything everyday...almost. Nitrate was at 80ppm, surprisingly everything was still alive and well, but it explained...

Getting ready for upgrade to Reefer 425XL ...TRANSFER NIGHTMARES

Awesome! I am thinking of getting it by the end of the year, many gadgets will be purchased on Black Friday weekend. Hopefully it will be a tank to tank transfer, it will be 100% all live rock so I don't think this will be a problem with some Biospira. I will definitely need some help catching...
