Hi everyone; this is Chad Clayton from Reed Mariculture. I look forward to meeting everyone in May to discuss some of the finer points of copepod culture such as: how to culture the various groups of copepods, why copepods are used in aquaculture and reef keeping, and how are they being...

    Tank-Safe Materials?

I was advised against using PLA in aquaria. Not sure of the reason, I'll ask my modeler.

    Black sponge?

There's quite a few sponges that are bad. This one is in a poor location (but not a bad one IIRC), I'd scrape it off and scrub the area with a tooth brush (do both outside of the tank). The ones you really want to avoid, for the most part, you cannot tell they are there... they are boring...

    Sochting Oxydator

Sorry, was going off this: http://www.aquariumoxygenator.com/ With import items. if there are stocking issues, historically those products ends up going dodo, or support is so poor in terms of replacement parts, etc, people shy away from them after getting burned. Deltec and H&S can tell you...

You don't want it to tumble... you want the entire bed to lift up, but just short of actual tumbling, carbon or no carbon.

    Can Tongue Coral be Fragged?!

That's really attributed to fragging larger plates. Smaller ones become circular much quicker, under a year in most cases.

    Can Tongue Coral be Fragged?!

Yes, you can frag "tongue" corals. Be careful fragging "plates" though, its not as successful as most fragging goes.

Close Call w/ Shrimp Hitch Hiker - Mantis?

Not all mantis are invert killers. I've had some for a few years that didn't eat my snails or other intentional inverts. A fed predator is a sedated predator for the most part.

Forum Contest: Identify these Invertebrates - Win $20!

never heard of them being called that, but I can see them being called that. So many common names for one species. Export lists still have common names like "moon stone" or "gem stone"... those can be applied to numerous genus and way more species. You end up learning which line item of...
