So it's been 1 week since I came back from my 4 weeks vacation, came back to see everything was functional and only casualty was the loss of a cleaner wrasse. calcium reactor was still online and my ph was finally at 8.3

Did you know that diatoms feed off silica?

Some people dose Silica.
Usually to support fancy ornamental sponges.
But there is also a theory that Diatoms are easier to clean than algae, and they take up a niche often abused by Cyano.

Although most people think simply that it is not a thing to worry about. Like a good article here:
