High Tide Aquatics

CB Fish Question

Except for the “exotic” breeds (e.g. Onyx clowns, Picasso clowns, etc…) do ORA or SA ever reintroduce “wild” stock back into the gene pool? Or are we looking at severe inbreeding with possible issues down the line?

I would imagine, like any aquaculture operation, that the gene pool is kept diverse. It is well know in aquaculture circles that you wind up culling out more animals with inbreeding, culling=loss of $$$$.

I spoke with the SA dude at BAYMAC to talk about my SI Perc situation and he said something about getting many of their SI perc pairs from the ocean...

Sustainable Aquatics is very big on low cull and as such take every precaution to ensure they have the best genetics. They simply do not have the room ORA has so they must be very efficient.
