Chaeto musings

My sump chaeto chamber is 12” deep and is lit by a H80 (129$) And initially i had chaeto sitting on the bottom where it was struggling, blanding and disintegrating.
Referencing the BRS refuge lighting video in which it was suggested that more power (PUR) for photosynthesis yielded more chaeto growth. And the strongest output lamp tested, the H380 for $299, did he best because of higher output. But I have had chaeto luck with cheap 6500k spiral cfl’s (7$).
So i was thinking of how could I improve my chaeto growth and then remembered the “PAR maps” people post with crazy high PAR numbers at the surface. So I threaded some fishing line through my struggling ball of chaeto and suspended it from the surface. Been two months so far and now the chaeto is thriving and deep green. Thought i would share this cheap tip for possible improved nutrient export!
