Clams for butterflies

I have a marginalis in Q for two weeks. Pounding the blackworms and mysis, loves clams. Should I shred the clam somewhat before I throw it in to make it easier to eat? The fly cherry picks the guts and the like, tries to shred the meat, but not that successful. That leaves a big honking piece floating around in the q tank. If I tried the same in my tank, there would be a big mess. My goal isn't to continue on the clams, but if I had to resort to them again down the road, I suppose I'd like to know the "proper" way.

I usually chopped up the large piece that tend to float and let them pick on the rest of the half shell. But, if you have no plan feeding clam later on, now is the time to try to get them on small pellets or frozen food like Rods or ocean nutrition. Blackworms is a great start.
