I talked to my wife today about the tank and she was a little surprised that I was going to put a fish room inside the house ???, She suggested that I move our heater and water heater elsewhere  so that the access to my tank would be from in the garage ;D this means that I can go with a bigger sump and all the heat from the tank lights fuge and frag tank will be in the garage.............. The possiblities are endless.

Sounds like she doesn't want water going through the house....lol

It's Welding Day!

Here are some pic's of the layout, prep, laying down the first bead and the finished prodoct of the bottom section of the stand.

OK I'm off the weld the top!

How do you plan to level the tank? Add leveling legs, if it was Acrylic, I would worry as much, but Glass tanks I think need to be as level as possible.

This is going to be one hell of a DIY project (which I love).

Since I am working on a related project at work, I must say that 8020 is an awesome alternative to welded steel. Infact, I'll probably use it to make my next stand.

I'm not going to use leveling legs, I thought about it but 10,000 pounds per square inch on an 1 1/4" disc will make and surface sink. I'm going to use a dense plastic shim to level the tank once I install the house jack's.

Btw what is 8020?

If you have ever worked with it, then you'll know how awesome it is.

I first started to use it back in grad school when I needed to make a moble rack/MS setup with access rails for the MS rods

Wha-chu tawk'n about Lewis?
[/quote]Willis, it's chew talkin bout Willis, Lewis is more of a white name.

Welds look nice and clean, way better than my welding. My style is weld, then grind, repeat. Good job, I'm sure it's kinda nice to know you have plenty of time to do things right.

No shit.

Here's a really creepy website. Looks like they went to an outside consultant on this staff recognition program. Check out the fake pics of ecstatic employees.

They all look the same, just different PC colors.

Very zombie-ish.
