Curing Marine Velvet on Ocellaris

I bought some copper from Petco, and will be following directions on an 8 gallon tank.

I also read that a 3 minute freshwater dip is good.

I am going to do this in a few minutes on a Ocellaris clownfish.

1. Airate RODI 0ppm fresh water
2. While airating I'm going to heat the water up to 78 degrees F
3. It's a small'ish clear jar that the fresh water is in

4. Dose a freshly mixed batch of 1.025 water in an 8g tank, heater and maxijet 800 with copper.

I'm going to net the clownfish and just put her into the clear jar for 3 minutes. That's the freshwater dip, and then remove her. If I find stuff floating around (white stuff) that means it's marine velvet, otherwise who knows? I'll put her in the copper hospital tank either way for a few days until hopefully she gets better.

Is this a good procedure? Thanks!
