Dipping toes into salty water...

Thanks! Seeing this skimmer in person makes me really happy I didn't get the larger model. It's a lot bigger than I imagined. I've never owned a skimmer, but I've been keeping fish for over 10 years and I feel like I know a good product when I see one. That being said, I feel like it is well made, sturdy and the parts fits together really well. The pump is a little cheesy but very quiet and I just know that it'll need replacing at some point. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase

Well, I'll be damned! It's full of water and the sump is running as is the skimmer. It's online folks!

Thanks so much to everyone who helped me get to this point

I ended up running a herbie. It was not loud at all, but there were sooo many microbubbles from the drains that weren't dissipating before the pump section. Works great!

Inhabitants include:
Gumby zoa
Kedd red zoas
Gobstopper zoas
Armor of god zoas
2 frags of Ora green birdsnest
1 unidentified birdsnest that appears to be purple

Fish are:
Cherub angel that has behaved himself so far....
Clown
6-line wrasse

Probably only 2 more fish I would think, huh? Thinking a midas blenny and maybe a blue spot jaw, but not quite sure.

Also 1 skunk cleaner and 1 fire shrimp. So far no problems between the 2.

Thanks for looking!

I also have a few Ora green birdsnest. I never in a million years thought id have sps so soon, but I got some at my local meet and they've done great so I figured what the heck. I love the way they look.

Hmm.
Honestly, you seem to be rushing things.
It might fine, and of course we all hope it goes well.
But it takes a while for the tank to really stabilize. It is a lot more than just ammonia and nitrite bacteria cycling.
If nothing else, be careful in how much you spend, in case things go badly in a month or two.

Point taken and thanks for the advice!

Incidentally, what are some things I should be on the lookout for?

Most of the frags came from 40 bucks worth of raffle tickets at my local club meet.

Tissue recession on the acro. Tips or base may turn white.
Zoas may close up and stay closed.
Are polyps extending.
Things like that.
