Does Plastic Trim Matter on a Small Tank?

Got a nifty PC light fixture, so we are setting up a 20L soft coral tank, since it fits better than the other dimension 20g tank I intended. In a couple spots on the old 20L the black plastic trim is cracked. Would you say this is a cause for concern or just cosmetic?

I would say it's a cause for concern, mainly because in that first picture you can see light shining through the trim on the back piece as well, which suggests some sort of force along that part that caused it to bulge out.

Besides Petco has their $1/gallon sale now, just get a new one for $20 + tax

Thanks for the advice @sfsuphysics My regular classes are studying forces right now, so a catastrophe would be a great learning experience. However, I think I'll check out Petco since I need crickets anyway and the price is right.

@ashburn2k I appreciate your offer! However, I have only counter space, so the tank/stand combo is better used elsewhere.

I would wonder what cause the cracks in the plastic in 1st place....Glass should not bulged or expand that much.
