Dosing--Peristaltic Pumps

I'll keep my eyes open for a couple of them but if you are in a rush you may borrow a twin AquaMedic I'm not using til I change tank (I know, has been a while since my intent to swap tanks but I'm close to accomplish it)

I have one of these topping off my desk tank if you want to see it before you buy it. Make sure to get a spare tubing kit too.

For the Drew's dosing pumps--how do you automate them? With timers or do they have controller built in?

The Bubble Magus and GHL Profilux look pretty sweet (especially since I decided to dose Magnesium as well):

With the off the shelf pumps like Drew's you would connect them to a timer/controller.

For an all in one unit (bubble magus, GHL, etc) they come with their own timer on board, so no using up precious space on your controllers power bar.

However regardless of which one you go with all work on a timing mechanism and not a flow rate, so you would still need to figure out how much time gives you the volume of fluid you want.

When I got mine they had a 2 pump one that was upwards of $400 I think, so it really was a no brainer for me to go OEM parts, however if my pumps failed, I think I might go with the BM one for simplicity and not having to use up two ports on my AC3 power strip.
 
Wow, at that price no reason not to go with a BM if you're doing 3 part.

What's the upper limit on the gpd they can dose? Do they have the same "break" period requirement that the Drew's dosers do?
 
Neptune is another source for both the Drew's pumps and bubble magus. I run a pair of drews. One is noisy and the other silent. Both function perfectly. Price wise, if you dose 3 or more things, the BM might be the more economic solution. Also, as Mike pointed out, if powers-trip real-estate is an issue, the BM will save 1 or more outlets; however you are unable to program it through your controller interface. This may not be an issue for you.

There's a thread on them that I think Ian started. He even put up the full dosing times, you can't just dial them in, they are a preset pattern you can choose from.
