Ehiem 1262 not working

I picked up a used RS-180 today with an Ehiem 1262 pump on it, and it appears that the pump might be bad. I only paid $100 for skimmer and pump so not too upset but hoping it can be fixed. It pumps but not strong enough water will not rise fully up the skimmer body. It only goes to the gate valve adjustment tube. Any thoughts?

I assume you have already taken it apart and cleaned it? Make sure the shaft is nice and smooth, too. I have a brand new 1262 sitting right here and the shaft feels like glass.

I think that might be the problem the magnetic shaft has some rough spots, but a new impeller assembly is $100, and I would hate to buy a new one and that not be the problem. I am going to call Jeff at Reef Dynamics on Monday and see what he recommends. I might just send him the pump to inspect and test it to see if it just needs the impeller or if the pump itself is bad.
