ID for this fuzz ball please.

My friend has this fuzz ball in his tank. From looking around I see a few pellets that weren't eaten so I am leaning towards a fungus. Anyone else have any other ideas?

looks like one of those sponges i have in my sump. Mine range from bb size on up to 1/4" diameter. or it could be a fungus covered large food pellet.

Sponges in the sump are probably pineapple sponges. This doesn't look have the "crown" portion it's just a ball.

I have some round sponges without "crowns" on them. They have kind of a yellow tint to them. The pineapple sponges look like pineapples.... these look like rotten oranges. Most sponges i have seen have some sort of "breather" hole. Does yours have one? If not then I would assume its probably a pellet covered in fungus.

Well, I can't see it, the guy has a 12g tank, it just up and disappeared lol.

Seems reminiscent of a sponge to me

I think it is a white ball sponge.
