High Tide Aquatics

Jonathan's BC29 with 250W HQI =)

Back in 2003, I started a 29gallon and had it up and running for 2 years while I was going to college. During my senior year, I couldn't keep up with my engineering courses and caring for the reef, so I sold my tank in 2005.

I like the open top for the great top down photos, and constant view. Did you use a photo box or just shoot from above the water? Richard

I just turned off the pumps, set my camera (Canon SD850) to macro and took the pics. I want to make a photo box, but never got around to doing it.

Your corals look good.

The purple polyp Acro looks like an austera to me.

Thanks. I hate not knowing the names of things.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Just swapped out my old 14k Phoenix bulb for a Helios 20k bulb. I never realized how blue the Phoenix bulb is until I compare it with the Helios 20k. I think the Phoenix can be labeled as 18k and I'll believe it. The Phoenix is brighter, but the Helios wins in the aesthetics department. I'll see how this bulb burns in.

For those that are interested, I've read that the Helios bulb burns too blue with the old style Ice Cap ballast. I have an old style Ice Cap ballast and it burns perfectly. I've seen other 20k bulbs that are just a deep blue, but the Helios is crisp blue and white.

My tank with the Helios bulb:

i love your zoomed in views. i also hate not knowing the names, so i always try to find out. tank looks sweet. once you get the taste of the reef you always have it.

My tank 2.0

I setup my sump and put my octopus extreme 160 in there.

Widen the stock overflow in the tank even more. There is ~500gph flowing through there

Durso standpipe installed in the HOB overflow. Still a little loud for my taste

Need to clean up the hose a little bit, but it's all working now. That's a JBJ Nano Cube 12 as the sump =)

Here is a macro of the skimmer body while breaking in.
