Our mission

J's ADA 60-F, "A Simple Life".

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been doing freshwater planted tanks for quite some time now, and finally pulled the trigger and started my first saltwater tank. It also made the start easier, considering that I already had the tank, filter, and lily pipes.

I am going for a minimalist look, with 2 "islands" for my corals, as well as minimal equipment in the tank. The only issue I see is that I get a little bit of surface film. I've been looking for the Mame Skimmer, but can't locate one in the U.S.

I'm brand new to this so any comments/critiques are welcome.

Cal Aqua Labs 13mm Lily Pipes
Eheim Ecco 2232

Corals

To be honest, I have no idea what any of the names are, so help is much appreciated!

Some sort of brown zoo (name?) with 2 sexy shrimp

2 corals, names?. I made a noob mistake and let the two touch for a second. The zoo looks bad at the point of contact. Are those areas now dead?

Things have been going well as the tank further matures. I've finally finished my light fixture. No more ghetto flood lamp on a 2x4 wood piece haha. I've also added a few more corals since then, as well as 2 clown fish.

Do you have surfacing skimming issues with using those lily pipes?

Looks great!!!!

Not too many for now. I do a 20% wc weekly, and get relatively little scum on the top. I would really like a nano skimmer, but can't find one that suits the look of my tank.

Jake posted a glass skimmer on Reef Builders a while back that looked elegant.

Really interested to find out what this is as well. The tentacles extend 2-3 inches at times!

Thanks guys! Tank is doing great!

People always think it's a lot bigger when seen in pictures. I have an MP10 in my other tank that I'm going to move over once I sell it. It's another 60-F with sand, rock, coral, and hang on back filter, as well as 2xpar38 20k from nanotuners. Asking $129 for the tank setup, and $160 for the pars. I scrapped my plans to do 2 of these 60-F's side by side, with a scape to make it look like one continuous tank. WIth the amount I've spent on just 1, I can't afford to stock another LOL.
