last minute lens advice?

Heading to Costa Rica on Friday for a 10 day tour.
My girlfriend is packing a D40 w/ Nikon 18-200 VR.
I'm packing a D40 w/ 35mm f/1.8, spare battery, multitude of cards, Nexto DI eXtreme 250GB, and a 500GB HD to copy to for duplicity's sake.

My question is which lens should I bring as a backup: 18-55 or 55-200 (both non-VR). While it is possible I can bring both, I'd prefer not to bring both (unless I don't bring the 35mm which I haven't bought yet). Last minute thoughts anyone?

I really have no clue of my goals there. I really don't know what it's like and I'm open to landscapes, portraits (of friends or locals) architecture or wildlife.

18-55. 200mm is a bit short for wildlife and if you really need something, use your g/f's. The 18-55mm is the better walk around lens.

don't regret anything, pack both =)

When I go on vacation, I pack everything. I never regret it. Sure it's heavy and cumbersome, but for me it's worth it, even if I don't use it. The moment I don't bring it, I wish I had it.
