Oregon torts are supposed to be real slow growers. Unless someone in BAR has a colony that's fraggable, gonna be a long while.

Are they hard to keep as well?
I am still beginner with sps. I have only recently able to keep acros. The slowest one in my 29G is red dragon. Couple of other tenius and milli are all growing faster relatively

If you can keep a red dragon you should do fine with an Oregon tort.

You mean the sps living on borrowed time?

Oregon Tort is much heartier than Red Dragon. But as others have mentioned, a very slow grower.

I’ve wondered if since it’s a deep water coral it prefers more subdued blue light.

Definitely a slower growing sps relative to other sps.

    Original frag acquired on 7/23/16.

Which I accidentally broke a tip off on 8/10/16 after moving it to a spot that I prefer.

Tried gluing it back on, but my clumsy hands broke off the same tip off less than a day later...

Eventually just glued the broken tip down and forgot about it. Not sure what triggered it, but the growth tip went on a growth spurt. Here it is ~5 months later on 1/4/17.

3 months later, on 4/4/17. Tip that was broken off was actually growing faster than the original frag that it had fallen off from and was now larger.

One month later, on 5/8/17, I redid the rocks and decided to mount both pieces next to each other.

7/14/17. Frag of the frag continued to outgrow the original. Both pieces were fused at the base by this point.

    10/19/17. Still outgrowing original...

A pic. of what we believe is our Oregon Tort. Peter found it growing on some live rock we picked up from @scuzy in May. It was the size of a match head.
