Hello, just want to see if anyone would be interested in a group buy from livestockusa. they are like a wholesaler, but the fish go straight from LAX to here. reason why im asking is they can get garden eels (nearly impossible to find around here, and i have been looking for a source online forever) and have wholesaler prices. heres a list (prices are dirt cheap)

    http://www.livestockusa.org/BaliBlue090417.pdf

I did some research and emailed them, and everyone seems to have had good experience with them. They replied back and were nice and seemed knowledgable. id order just the garden eels for myself, but they only ship boxes of ~20 fish. (less if big, more if small)

only issue is, there is a whopping 300$ shipping fee. If enough people want to do this, then id have to increase prices if I was going to be the one to buy it. $300/20 = $15, so maybe $15 extra per fish? maybe less if you are buying less valuable fish (fish that retail for under 20$) and more if you are buying more expensive fish (fish that retail for more than 80-100$) because i want to try and keep it fair.

    they have a 24 hour guarantee ( http://www.livestockusa.org/TERMS.html )

If we order, it will come into SFO on the next monday. ill pick it up and take it back to my house (located in san mateo) I have 10 gallon tanks I can setup as holding tanks if you cannot pick up your fish for a few days.

there is also a shipping from LAX to SFO fee, but depending on how much that is im willing to cover it.

if interested, fill out the information in this google slides

Might be more realistic if someone was already making the LA to SF trip and have them picked up. $300.00 shipping is a lot to swallow for individuals buying.

yeah, but i guess depending on what you buy you would still save money... I mean, lets say you buy 20 borbs (not realistic) for 75 each then pay the 300 shipping. thats like $1800. if you pay 20 * 225 for 20 borbs from a fish store, its $4500. you save like what, a few grand? i know this isnt very realistic as no one is going to buy 20 borbs, but in most cases if you look at the fish prices you would save money. and im not saying you shouldnt buy from fish stores, i mean im at AC every other weekend, but sometimes they dont always get what you want.

this isnt a good option for the individual though, because either way adding 20 fish in at a time is not good, unless you got several QT's running and add them in slowly.

Well I'll toss my name into the ring with the caveat that there needs to be enough interested people to make individual shipping reasonable.

Actually they count much better than fish. More appendages to count on.

How reputable are these guys? Do they ever ship the wrong species? They have a mantis shrimp, O.scyllarus on there for $4. That's the species I want, I've just never seen them anywhere near that price.

From what I have read, they generally seem pretty knowledgable and know what they are talking about. All the low wholesaler prices make up for the $300 shipping...

Hmn looking at the link provided they say freight is 90-100 for one box 130 for two, and less for those on the west coast. I'd be interested in where that 300 number comes from

Are we only allowed to buy from the Bali blue tab?

If you order in a month or so, I'll be in for some ritteri / h.magnifica. I figure if I'm already going to setup a treatment tank for one nem, might as well do a few at a time. $7.05? That's kind of a no brainer.

My phone is too old to download the app to edit the Google doc, but I would be interested in the mantis shrimp for $3.30 and the corn anemone for $4.58. I'm pretty sure the corn anemone is a bubble tip, right?
