High Tide Aquatics

My 75G Reef Build

I mean that the horizontal outlet of the T looks like it will set the skimmer water level to the height of the riser inside the cup.

The foam will overflow the cup like crazy.

i see what you are talking about...i used the specs on asmskimmer.com for the piping measurements but i guess i have to take the bottom coupler and pvc off to make the T lower than the collection cup...thanks for the heads up Mr. Ugly

finally had some time to work on the stand for a little bit...decided to make it a simple stand and not too fancy

I would add something to give the front crossbar (i think that wat it called :D) additional support. Those screws won't hold it too long. It's better to overbuild it a little bit than having 75G of water on the floor ;D..

Dunno Phong, it looks pretty strong to me, most homemade stands I see are over engineered. Plus it looks glued and screwed, big difference.

If I'm looking the picture correctly, this is his frame. You think the screws strong enough to hold that much weight?? I don't trust it. I would at least add one 2x4 on each side to support the top bar.

hoang on thereeftank.com built a stand for a 90 gallon and i actually took the specs for the frame from him...looks like its holding up pretty fine for him...check it out:

you want pics? ill give you some pics...lol
was able to get some stuff done with the stand...painted the back of the tank black, did my meshmod to my euroreef skimmer, got me a 40 gallon tank for a sump, painted the inside of the stand with kilz paint after i put on some plywood in the back and sides

i am now trying to find some time to prep the stand for staining but it looks like not anytime soon since finals and presentations are around the corner...in the mean time im trying to find out the steps on how to stain and which brand works best?

finally got some money to buy me a ro/di unit...any suggestions on the cheapest most effective unit out there for around 100-180 bucks???

or if anyone has recommendations from local sponsors/vendors

If RO systems are anything like printers, the research the replacement filters. You don't want to be stuck with an RO system where the required replacement media/membranes cost double the normal rate.
