I started an aquarium club at my school along with my friend @Tyler campos

As of now, the club is about 25 members. Our goal is to help teach other people about the hobby, and set up a tank at school for those who dont have time/cant have one at home. Currently, only myself and @Tyler campos are the only people with any experience with reefkeeping in the club but im hoping to change that and have everyone know at least the basics.

Our next step is to set up a reef tank at school! I figured probably the best tank size is in between 40-75 gallons, that way there is a bit of room for parameter swings but its not extremely expensive or a huge amount of maintenance. I was planning on doing a pretty much only "easy" corals. Softies, most LPS, birdsnest, etc. As well as hardy fish.

However, I dont have a tank yet (have been stalking craigslist but havent found anything so far) and was wondering if anyone has any tanks or dry rock they are looking to sell? I already have a heater and skimmer, so i dont need those, but could definitely use return pumps and lights.

    Thanks, Kyle

Sounds great! What is your school? Is it in a classroom or common area? Are you having a sump?
Don't want to be a pain at all, but has someone looked into the details and received approval? I ask because I had trouble with the facilities/maintenance department, energy conservation director, fire marshal, and chemical health and hygiene inspector. My district is large and bureaucratic, so maybe you have no issues.

That would be great, thanks! can you pm me your address?

Havent worked out where it is going to be, but I have talked to admins that are on board with it. Not sure if they really looked deeply into it though, will talk to them again soon. they were fine with me bringing a small tank for 2 days for an event

Thanks, but im going to go with the larger 75 gallon

    Hi there,
If you are still interested, I have a custom 125 gallon tank (slightly larger than what you're requesting) with a solid wood stand with three sets of LED lights, 30+ gallon sump, return pumps, internal pumps, and protein skimmer. I also have about 100 pounds of sand and maybe about 60 pounds of live rock. @Kensington Reefer is familiar with the tank. There are a few scratches on the inside of the tank (house cleaners tried to help me one day and scratched the inside when they picked up a rock), but since the tank will be emptied, they could be buffed out a bit. If you are interested, I would be happy to send more brand details and pictures.

put the tank in today, still dry though we need to plumb it. If anyone has any LED lighting (e.g. chinese black boxes) that they no longer want/are willing to donate/sell, that would be great!

Ideally we will have the plumbing done and have water in it by the end of next week!

update on where we were at
    upload_2018-11-15_18-19-7.png
tank is not all the way full yet because thanksgiving break is here (1 week) and i didnt want to leave the tank alone fully running without an auto top off yet.

We are possibly going to be getting funding from the school which is great, and should have it coral-ready within the next few weeks.

Glad to hear your project is moving along! Will be following your progress after the break. If you would like Hollywood Stunner when you start stocking, we can be first in line with a big piece.

Are you in San Mateo or Alameda county? There's a $1000 grant that's SUPER easy. I received $977 in about two hours and am setting up a 24 gallon reef tank (along with many donations from the club members!).
