Hey @Bruce Spiegelman
My kid reads the forum!!
I know you're kidding, but more people and more demand should actually mean more turnover for a store and might help lower prices.
That’s not the economics I leaned...
Sure it is. Nice corals are a limited resource. Higher demand increases scarcity and prices rise.
Opposite is true, more members in the club means more FREE frags to go around
I like how you think.
It actually goes both ways. Prices, adjusted for by supply and demand, is dependent on whether the goods is a luxury item or not.
Depends on the quality of frags that are freely offered. plus there's "the bug" part of the equation getting people more addicted wanting their pretty things means higher demand on the LFS
Hell when I started this hobby I was happy with fish in a box and some rocks. wasnt until a LFS gave me some corals for free that I actually wanted them
No they are not . Corals that grow slower and harder to keep are limited resource.
Bruce you are truly a 1 man show
Ha! Is there such thing as "Free frags"?
Yes! Do you mean to tell me that you have not gotten any free frags from you fellow members?
No but never asked - I'm to shy to ask
OK, I got your back! I started a thread:
Go on over and post what type of corals you are looking for.
Guess you haven’t been around long enough
I suppose they aren’t “free” if they cost your friendship tho.
when i first got my tank set up and ready, three members gave me bunch of free coral to get the tank going! lots of friendly people in this group.
Very impressive conversation people. I would like to help BAR. I have some ideas that seem consistent with the general consensus here, and can help to implement them. I think that communities like this are super-valuable, and well worth keeping alive and well. Who should I speak to? Sounds like you Bruce?
Not me. I'm not a member of the BOD. However, there is a BOD meeting next Saturday where a lot of ideas will be shared.
