Hi Steve....the Peppermint shrimps we got in are from the Caribbean, specifically Puerto Rico and the species is Lysmata wurdemanni. I know that many of the Peppermint shrimp from other parts of the country do not eat aptasia and from my knowledge only about 10%-20% of Caribbean Peppermints actually eat aptasia. Additionally, the ones that eat aptasia may occasionally pick on other soft corals. Supplemental iodine dips aid in helping the carapace develop after molting.
