The health of corals and coral reefs can be used as indicators of environmental changes, both on a local or global basis. General topics to be discussed include coral biology; coral reef geology; threats and changes to corals and reefs; corals as indicators of environmental stresses; how and where we study the marine environment, corals, and coral reefs; careers and fields of study in marine biology.
