Open top or canopy?

Hey guys,

What is your opinion on open top vs canopy?
How easy is it to do maintenance inside the tank with a tank with canopy or open top with a pendant for that matter.
Is it viable or even wise to make a pendant that can be pulled up and down?
Is the cost of pendant much more that a canopy with reflectors would make a better deal?
Is the canopy going to cause a lot of heat issues?
I'm just undecided on whether going with open top vs canpoy and need some help.

Thanks

I'm pro-canopy for the main reason is there is no light spill. i have the tanks in the living room with TV on so it's nice not having the tank light be distracting. I wouldn't get a canopy though unless the front panel could hinge open to let you reach your arm into the back of the tank or you'll be cursing the lack of access.

How about a floating canopy? Those are nice, light spill occurs but you have ventilation.
A closed canopy will rise the temperature, you may have the top cut couple ventilation holes so heath can escape and cooler air pushed from the sides/back via fan.
