Are these guys reef safe? Anyone have one before? Picked on up for $16 at the LFS

They're "reef safe" more or less in that they seem to only eat a handful of sponge species, which aren't likely to be present in our tanks.

I am pretty sure they eat other nudibranchs as part of their diet too. I would not put one in a reef tank though since after they die(they're lifespan is a few weeks) they expel the toxins in their body.

You also should have got two of them since nudibranchs live very short life spans and the only way to maintain a population in a tank is to put in two and have them lay eggs (nudibranchs are hermaphrodites so you don't have to worry about finding which gender they are).
Sorry about sounding so negative and criticizing but I just don't want your nudibranch to die in a few days to weeks and take your whole tank with it. :(
