There's a variety of HOB siphon-based overflows, which mostly work but can be very risky. Because they are siphon based, if the siphon breaks the drain stops flowing and your display can overflow. So I would not recommend this style of overflow unless you have your tank in a sealed fishroom with a floor drain - where you're comfortable with your display tank overflowing onto the floor.
