Cool.. is it going to sit right in the middle like that?? :D

Looks nice. I see you notched the tops of the legs for the horizontal member, which is, of course, the right way to do it. I'll be doing almost the exact same design soon with 4x4's and 2x6's.

Did he? looking at the black dots on the legs (screw heads?) It looks more like a doubled up 2x4 one cut shorter than the other.

I guess only Dudley knows for sure. Maybe he'll tell us.

I used 2 ea 2 x 4 for legs and used sheet rock screw to hold it together no gluing. It will not have alot of weight its only 60 gallon tank. 4' X 2' x 1'

hey I have ordered a tank the same as yours... except mine has the overflow on the side, can you post more pics of the stand? i really want to build the stand this weekend, but i don't have a clue of the correct way to support the 60g tank, i know the bottom of the tank has to be fully supported, since it is acrylic.. can you take some shots from under the stand?

thanks''

Juan

well, i build it before i checked the reply.... :-

I hope it holds ok.... it is a dual shelf, because I need a way to suspend my light, and i might eventually make a SURGE if flow is not enough, so i can hold the surge tank on top, but i didn't put a cross support on the bottom ot the tank, but i did installed 2 support braces like you on the top (for my light hangers), but i did installed on both levels a 3/4" BIRCH plywood, and also I did painted it today (I will take pics tomorrow) and for the final steep, I also purchased a 1" insulation foam, that i will cut to fruther support the tank, I read that if you install a soft/firm supprt for acrylic tanks is better, since it removes high stress points, if the wood becames uneven..
