Our mission

Propagation of Scolymia Australis Now with feeding images...weird stuff

Feeding
IMG_4624.jpg

I placed mysis on it's feeder tentacles, and a little piece dropped in front of the cut.
I noticed its guts started to come out a bit, and watched as it grabbed this piece...blurred, but its a whole mysis shrimp
The coral then surrounded the piece of shrimp in its intestines..I think thats what it is....

And in a few minutes, it dissolved/disappeared inside the mass

within 5 minutes it had tucked itself back inside

Now thats cool!

I just noticed it has formed a new mouth, and surprisingly its rotated 90 degrees from where it was originally. We cut it splitting the mouth lengthwise, instead of across. Check it out....its hungry...

that tissue is fully joined, so its a functioning mouth.

I got better pictures after i brought the corals to my new display, surprisingly, the cut has totally healed and has generated new skeleton where the guts used to be exposed.
