Propagation of Scolymia Australis Now with feeding images...weird stuff

  1. Feeding
    [IMG]
I placed mysis on it's feeder tentacles, and a little piece dropped in front of the cut.
I noticed its guts started to come out a bit, and watched as it grabbed this piece...blurred, but its a whole mysis shrimp
The coral then surrounded the piece of shrimp in its intestines..I think thats what it is....

And in a few minutes, it dissolved/disappeared inside the mass
    [IMG]
within 5 minutes it had tucked itself back inside

    Now thats cool!

Interesting in a morbid sort of way... :~ :D Looks like it could be the next model for a horror show too. :O

This is a sweet idea and very brave to do it on a scoly so nice in color.

  8. I just noticed it has formed a new mouth, and surprisingly its rotated 90 degrees from where it was originally. We cut it splitting the mouth lengthwise, instead of across. Check it out....its hungry...

that tissue is fully joined, so its a functioning mouth.

  13. I got better pictures after i brought the corals to my new display, surprisingly, the cut has totally healed and has generated new skeleton where the guts used to be exposed.
