I have a live rock about the size of a softball with a colony I would love to trade for a couple easy to care for Zoa's or GPS.

can i remove the rock and just prune off the xenia, or will it just grow back?

Maybe i was unique; but i was able to peel my xenia off the rock by carefully teasing the foot/attachment site off with the edge of a credit card and it never would grow back.

You’d have to remove it entirely, if you can take the rock out, maybe using a stiff scraper along the base would make it easier.

i would remove it in the display, lights on so i could get the best visualization. All the cleaner shrimp would crawl over my hands in a race to get to the fresh pickin grounds.
