? Running a calcium reactor and Kalk reactor together?

I plan on setting up my calcium reactor this weekend. I also have a kalk reactor on hand. Is there any point in running both? Or will it be to much?

I run both. The theory is that CA reactors bring down the ph and Kalk brings it back up! I believe both are "balanced" calcium supplement methods so they are both fine running in tandem without unbalancing anything. I thought I read that they do work nicely together. I use my kalkmixer as a constant top off, and I HAVE the darn thing, so I use it.

My big worry is the low pH of the effluent. What is the concept behind an additional chamber or effluent chamber?

I top off with Kalk. The reactor brings the ph down for sure.
My tank is usually around 7.9-8.0 and will go lower if the reactor is on full time and I don't top off with Kalk mix.

IIRC CA reactors supply more ALK then CA. Adding KALK helps balance up both the PH and the CA.

The second chamber and effluent chamber both are to help strip any excess CO2.
