SoulFish Guest BARcard Dec 25, 2011 #1 Trying to keep the skimmer under $800, and needs shorter than 36" and should also be energy efficient if possible. I'm thinking a submersible cone type, and leaning towards Super Reef Octopus, but open to ideas. Thoughts?

gimmito Guest BARcard Dec 27, 2011 #2 I think the super reef octopus is your best bet. I would keep an eye out on a used alpha or atb also.

I've heard good things about the Skimz line, mind you mostly from people who had them Most newer skimmers have efficient pumps on them so that shouldn't be a problem. SRO is a good choice too though.
