As a longtime hobbiest, it REALLY saddens me when I see the state of my tank. I've been doing weekly 20% water changes, adding more flow, trying chemiclean, and nothing is working to get rid of the red slime that's plagued my tank. I've really been struggling to get things back on track in the past while. Tried macro in the sump and is dissolved away. Heavy skimming, uncovering the tank, dosing kalk, etc. Parameters have been rock solid (no ammonia, nitrite, nitrate), and phosphate is zero (though clearly its being consumed so nothing is "free" in the tank). The tank just seems to be on a steady downward trajectory. I've added fish, and they die off mysteriously. The corals are also suffering heavily.

As a result I'd like to fine new homes for the corals in my tank. I don't feel right charging for these as they're not looking amazing. Plus a good number of these are from frag swaps and other members where I never really paid for them.

Frogspawn; this guy hasn't been happy lately for some reason: FREE

    Monti cap: FREE

This guy was a win from one of the frag swaps; its still got reasonable color, but it hasn't really grown much: FREE
    [IMG]

Chalice coral; got this as a small frag from Geneva; its been going strong since the moment I got it. This is a rather large piece and has encrusted onto the back wall of the tank, so I expect some breakage.

Galaxia; had a big colony of this in the past and was thrilled to have one again. It's got nice coloration. This can have large sweepers. FREE

This one makes me sad; it looked amazing when I got it, but its really faded in colors. Believe its a Miami Hurricane Chalice FREE

    Zoas:

This rock also has a ricordea head on it:

Candy Cane Coral; got it at a BAR frag swap as a single head; and its grown nicely since:

Leptastrea; still got some color: FREE

I'm located in South San Jose; near 85 and Almaden Expressway.

Sorry to see you struggle. Are you going to restart the tank?

And have you considered doing the ATI ICP test to see what's in your water?

Looks like my long lost lavender candy cane that I used to put into the swaps.

Can I get a frag back through Ashburn?

    Thx guys.

Have you tried leaving the tank completely dark (covered)for like 3 days? For those taking coral, I hope you QT them before putting in your tank. You might get same issue.

I am not currently planning to restart the tank. I imagine I will be back in the future but for now it seems reasonable to step.back and give it a rest.

I hadn't considered doing a more comprehensive test. Maybe I'll do that even though I'm going to wind down the tank. It would be nice to know what was going wrong so I'm more knowledgeable in the future.

I've not tried the dark treatment. Mainly siphoning out the junk and large water changes.

This is why I'm giving these away for free, and I highly encourage dipping and proper qt for those receiving.

Thanks for all the responses. I will go through these tonight.
My preference will be BAR members first as I've learned lots from BAR and think it's a great club.
I fully caution those taking the corals that proper qt and dipping is always a good idea given all the issues I've had lately.
