Totally confused about color modes

So my nikon D50 has:
color mode Ia, which is sRGB (regular)
color mode II, which is Adobe RGB (wider sprectrum of colors but less saturation?)
color mode IIIa, which is sRGB (enhanced magenta and green) [default]

So I guess most nikon/canons come with mode IIIa by default. It gives night bright pictures but a bit over saturated.
I'm not a big fan of enhancements and like pics to be "as-is" (except for frame/resize/BW)

What are you guys using?

Example:

this image is in Color I:

this one is in Color II:

this one is in Color IIIa:
color3a.jpg

I like mode 2 (and it's closer to natural color)
This effect is less visible for colors that other from magenta obviously.

I thought I read that II used to be the default, and that it got changed to IIIa because newbie consumers thought that Nikon looked washed out compared to other brands that were default on IIIa.

IIIa is basically sRGB saturated. That's the only difference.

I shoot in mostly sRGB (normal) or aRGB depending on the circumstances. With skin tones or for stuff that counts, it's aRGB. I bring it back over to sRGB afterwards for posting purposes since printers can see the difference, but monitors really can't.
