I got one of those battery powered motion sensor lights, so it will only get activated when you need to work in there and doesn’t need a switch, no wiring too.

Yeah, you can get very cheap strip LEDs through amazon that can be tacked under the stand that are great for viewing stuff under the stand and can have an easy on/off switch... or super fancy motion activated switch like ashburn :D If you want to grow macroalgae get a dedicated light for that.

That's a good idea. Those make decent fuge lights on AIOs too. There's a 29 Biocube I run with those taped to the back. I sealed them on with black duct tape so there's no light spill-over out the back and it's been growing chaeto like a weed for a couple years now.

Edit, the ones I got were encapsulated in clear silicone or something and I think came from 1000bulbs, but same idea.
