What Are These White Serpent Star Looking Things In My Chaetomorpha

Hi,

I purchased some clumps of chaetomorpha a couple of months ago. Shortly after getting it into the fuge, I noticed dozens of these mini serpent star looking critters in it. Any idea what they are and if they pose any problems to my system?

They don't ever seem to get bigger than this. If they are pest, is there a good way to rid them, like soaking in fresh water before placing chaeto back in fuge, or should I just toss it out?

Thank you for viewing this and posting back.

They are.... tiny serpent/brittle stars.

The chaeto in my fuge has tons of them too.. plus ever crack and hole in my rock has them too.

Is that a good thing?

Right now I'm only finding dozens of them in the fuge and not the main tank.

I'm only guessing but my system must have hundreds of them in it.
Mini clean up army.
A lot of them end up in my filter sock each week.

Will I be okay long term having them, or do you think I should stop them from proliferating?

I feel they do no harm and probably do good at eating and breaking down things that the fish and corals did not get or want.

Save them and fatten them up so I can feed them to my Harlequins! :p
They say, "I just love starfish 'cause they taste so good"

Mine never went after them, only some of my wrasses did. They're too small (off the radar) for H.S.
