My question to you reefers is why do coral have color? Is there any significance to their color? For example is there color for camouflage or reproduction? Or is there a bigger and better reason for the color? I know that the Color that a coral produces comes from algae that lives within the coral. But why!!!!

UV ray protection among other things. The brighter colors reflect harmful UV rays and different colors work better at different depths etc. It's why many of the brightest corals are found in shallower waters.
