I was thinking of breeding royal grammas. I have kept one since it was a juvenile and it loves my tank. I was wondering how you tell if it is a male or a female and if it would get along enough to breed with another royal gramma? Puzzled Also if so do they need anything special besides a tank for the babies.

Very hard fish to breed. Needs a very small first feed and IIRC sexing isn't easy. Try RC's breeding forum or www.marinebreeder.org

I'm sure that there are pairs out there somewhere for sale, but they may be hard to track down and very pricey. I would imagine that you could make a pair, but you might go through a bit of money trying to find one male and one female if the gender can't be distinguished.

Thank you very much for the info. Though I am wondering if I only had one Royal Gramma would it automatically make itself the dominant male.

these are awesome fish to watch - I have a trio that spawns in my 40 breeder - Robin is going to try to raise them when I complete my tank breakdown - so hopefully he can add some input down the road to our local forum.

Try posting that over on MOFIB. No one here most likely can answer that Wink
