I was just saying foxface grows fast and get quite large. Not that they don’t live long. Just like a dory ( regal tang ). You get them the size of a nickel. In 3 years they are 7-8” long. Crazy fast.

I’ve noticed that when fox faces get about 6”. They start nipping at corals. I have a few. They eat the bad stuff that other fish won’t.

if you start with all smaller size. Say 3”. Foxface will need to be rehome in 2.5 years. For sure. You know the spine on the foxface is venomous. Right. Trigger in 5-6 years maybe. bristletooth tang 8-10 years. Maybe never.

I've been using eBay ones for years. None have ever burnt out. Dunno if there’s a difference but they work. I run them 24/7. I have used the brand name ones for years also.

google fishless cycle. Basically it’s just adding ammonia into the saltwater with a micro culture starter. Another option is just throw in a raw shrimp. That takes a little bit longer. If you’re not in a rush. It works.

You better have a lot of back up saltwater. That rock is gonna cycle and stink.

Keep the rock in saltwater with a power head and heater. When you’re finally ready for it. It will give you a big head start. Especially if it’s old live rock.

^ solid advice. Don’t be spendy. Learn the basics and master them. If you want to be in this hobby for a long time. This hobby will suck up all your extra money if you let it.
