    How do you lower Nitrates

Herbivores don’t really “remove” it though - they poop it back into the system. This approach makes sense but only if you are manually pulling all of the algae growth out of the tank, otherwise the nutrients don’t actually go anywhere right? Not really any different than a refugium or scrubber...

What would you do? Blue Clove Polyps

Well shit! Maybe they just don’t like my tank that much. Or maybe I’ve got something eating them.

What would you do? Blue Clove Polyps

Here's a pic of what I got - left of the oregon tort. Definitely some kind of small polyp but doesn't look as big or have as long tentacles as the "blue clove polyps" I've seen. They also haven't really been an issue - been in my tank for a while. Definitely slowly growing over rocks but not...

    Cheapest ICP OES-MS

13-15 USD plus the hassle of buying/printing a label yourself and/or driving to the post office! That low price was interesting but if they aren't including postage....hard pass from me.

They are saying you SHOULD use saltwater. Is that right @BAYMAC @Darkxerox ?

What would you do? Blue Clove Polyps

So like zoas and encrusting montis basically.

What would you do? Blue Clove Polyps

I think I may have these in my tank - but they don’t really seem able to compete with any corals and haven’t really been a problem, so maybe they are something else? Why are they so despised - do they kill corals?

Interesting! Does Fauna Marin have a breakfast smoothie recipe you can share? I am looking to maximize my fiber and protein while keeping the overall caloric intake reasonable.

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

My ecoflow is seamless when it switches over. I wouldn't even notice the power was out if the lights didn't also shut off.

I've done the bacterial test a couple of times now. I think I posted the results of the first one in my TJ. I mostly wanted to do a before/after chemiclean treatment (didn't notice much change in my microbiome other than a huge reduction in cyano on the results). I probably won't do another...

    127g Acrylic build

Yeah I definitely would not bother with the 35" one. I use the 15" one 90% of the time, and the 0" one the other 10% to get the really difficult stuff in the upper corners. I have long arms and the 15" is no problem reaching to the bottom of my tank. With a 36" deep you probably want the 24"...

Alternative power back-up solutions (not Ecoflow brand)

Passive power as well as fast-switching. When I did my research the Ecoflow was one of the only options that could seamlessly switch to backup power without meaningful interruption to the circuit when power went out.

Definitely a worthwhile endeavor - I documented all of mine (written on paper with ink pen...sadly) and it was a good exercise. It opened my eyes to a couple potential risks and I made some changes as a result. Maybe I will transition my handwritten one into a digital format and share, but I was...

But you have 2 outlets available on your XP8 if I am looking at your diagram correctly - why not put at least one of them there? Also it's ONLY heaters on that wifi strip, why not remove it entirely and leave the aqualogic directly plugged into the outlet? I wouldn't trust those wifi outlets...
