    Apex issue thread

This week, my Trident is showing “testing alk” for two days even though it is not doing anything. I tried restarting and unplugging. Does anyone know of a fix? Thanks!

    Bettas!

I went to Neptune’s the other day and took my daughter along, so for once I ended up in the freshwater section. I could not believe the colors of betta fish - when did this happen? The pic doesn’t do the black bettas justice… their scales were bright silver like a discoball, this one looked...

What to do when pH is too high

Oh no. I’m going to have to get my CO2 tanks refilled and start dosing based on pH again, or decrease light intensity for a bit in the afternoon to prevent what I guess is photosynthesis creating more O2 than can be removed (?) with aeration. I wish there was a way to program my light intensity...

    The Aquabiomics talk todaj

@IOnceWasLegend @Bolicks Eli and a couple colleagues spoke to Humblefish group today and we learned they plan to purchase their own (PCR?) sequencer now that the price has come down from $500k to $1k. I know there was some thread on the possibility of a BAR sequencer that was at least 5%...

    Fathead anthias

Does anyone have them? What do yours eat? How long did it take before they would eat pellet or flake? Mine won’t take flake yet - just frozen mysis and brine. Weirdly, even though there’s a pic of fathead anthias on the PE calanus package, all 3 of mine completely ignore it.

PSA it’s that time of year again…

When corals shift from the tight temp control they got used to over the winter to mid day temp spikes due to the warming weather. This is the time people start seeing issues, so please keep an eye on those tank temps and add fans/leave the AC on while you’re gone for the day as necessary! Every...

    Do you remember… Skilters?

I threw a frag tank together using a Skilter 400. Remember those? I had to borrow the kitchen cart again but made a tank with Tap plastics acrylic, since the anthias are still in my QT/spare system.

    Radions grow beans, too!

My daughter came home from school with a bean wrapped in wet newspaper. We planted it in a pot and placed it on the overflow cover of my garage tank where it gets light from the Radions for a few weeks, and it’s already growing beans! The support in the middle is 3 chopsticks taped together :)
